Sustainability

Technology and digitalization for a more sustainable world

At Intility, we are committed to creating a platform where shared services help reduce the carbon footprint and make better use of resources.

Why Intility

An industrialized and service-based approach to IT operations that reduces the carbon footprint and optimizes the use of resources

Development and Innovation

All companies on Intility, regardless of size, benefit from continuous development and innovation, whether it comes from us or from Intility’s partner ecosystem.

Increased Efficiency

Intility optimizes IT operations for companies by using advanced technology and automated processes. This leads to more efficient use of energy, which in turn results in reduced emissions.

Scalability and Flexibility

Intility’s platform is highly scalable and can easily be adapted to the users’ needs. This ensures that energy and resources are used efficiently without overproduction or underutilization.

Consolidation of Data Centers

Intility consolidates IT infrastructure into centralized, highly efficient data centers, which reduces energy consumption compared to dispersed, less efficient data centers.

Sustainable Procurement

Intility performs thorough procurement assessments for its suppliers and sets strict requirements to ensure responsible and sustainable purchasing practices.

Circular Economy

Intility has its own protocols for reuse and recycling of IT equipment, which ensures that hardware is used efficiently and recycled in an environmentally friendly manner when outdated.

Reporting

Becoming better at sustainability

At Intility, we view the work on sustainability as an ongoing process. It is something we will never complete and something we will always strive to improve. Reporting provides us with a framework to assess how we structure and prioritize our work, and is an important part of assessing the effects it produces.

Intility falls under the scope of the Transparency Act and is obliged to carry out due diligence assessments in accordance with the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises, cf. §4, and to publicly disclose a statement of these assessments, cf. §5. The law promotes companies’ respect for human rights and decent working conditions in production and services, as well as ensures public access to information on how companies handle negative impacts, cf. §1.

Larger enterprises must actively assess risks related to human rights and working conditions within their own operations, supply chain, and business partners.

For questions about Intility’s work on human rights and the Transparency Act, please contact sustainability@intility.no.

Intility has been Eco-Lighthouse certified since 2014. This certification enables us to document that we meet various criteria in areas including governance, working environment, health, safety, and environment (HSE), sustainable procurement, energy consumption, transport, waste, and emissions.

The certification also requires annual reporting on indicators such as waste and recycling, energy, transport, and working environment.

Intility has been a member of the UN Global Compact, the world’s largest organization for sustainable business, since 2021. We remain committed to supporting and implementing the ten principles of the UN Global Compact in the areas of human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption.

As part of our membership, we report annually on our progress through a Communication on Progress (COP) to show our efforts to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The UN’s sustainability goals are the blueprint for achieving a more sustainable and better future for all. The goals are complex and address the global challenges we face. All 17 goals are important, but Intility shall prioritize the goals that are most relevant in regards to our business model, industry, and stakeholders’ expectations.

Success Story

Optimization of Packaging for Networking Equipment

In collaboration with Intility, Cisco has optimized the packaging design for five networking products, which have been given new and more environmentally friendly packaging. This has reduced the carbon footprint and packaging size, and enabled the shipment of 20% more units per pallet.

Get an overview and analysis of carbon emissions with Intility Sustainability Manager

Intility Sustainability Manager provides companies with an overview and insight into their own carbon footprint. The tool records, visualizes, and analyzes carbon emissions over time, based on data from the company’s IT environment. Additional emissions can be recorded through an integrated carbon accounting module, useful for sustainability reporting.

Digitalization

Sustainability and technology

Through technology and digitalization, companies not only increase their productivity and competitiveness, but also become more sustainable. Intility’s greatest contribution to sustainability is to assist customers with digitization initiatives, which have positive effects on the economy, social conditions and climate.

Intility works to increase access to information and communication technology. That’s why we’re developing an inclusive and standardized platform that is the same for all companies on Intility, regardless of size and industry. In this way, all companies on the platform benefit from both our and our partners’ development and innovation.

Collaboration

To succeed we need to work together

Intility will be at the forefront of important sustainability initiatives and we believe that opportunities for innovation and implementation increase when we collaborate with others. That’s why we work closely with customers, partners, suppliers and the business community to achieve our own and the UN’s sustainability goals.

Collaboration with the UN Global Compact is important to Intility. We report to them on our selected goals and will follow these up in dialog with stakeholders and society around us.
